Alice is coming to the yoga studio for the first time. Normally this would be a scary situation for her. Normally Alice would have lots of questions: Where is the studio? What should I wear? How do I pay for my classes? How to do I sign in?
Alice is not the least bit concerned. In fact Alice is excited. She had recently received a series of emails from the yoga studio that answered all of her questions and many other questions that she had not thought of. These emails removed all of her anxieties and Alice is looking forward to meeting the teachers and getting started with her first class.
This is what Alice learned about how to sign in for yoga classes at the studio.
How to sign in
The sign in process consists of two steps. First you update your Pass card and then you update the Class sign in sheet.
When do you sign in
You do these two steps (update pass card & update the class sign in sheet) before the class starts. Let’s look at the first step: update your pass card.
Step 1 – Update your pass card
You only do this step if you have a pass card. The pass card is business card sized and it records how many classes you have available to use at the studio. You do not keep the pass card with you. It is kept at the studio in a small black box.
Where is your pass card
Your pass card] is kept in the black pass card box on the small table between the entrances to the two practice spaces.
How do you find your pass card
The pass cards are filed in the box alphabetically by the first letter of your last name. If your name is Snow White you would look behind the “W” tab. If your last name is Goldilocks you will be looking for your card behind the “G” tab in the pass card box. All of the “G” pass cards are in the “G” section and they are in random order within this section. You are going to have to search through the cards in the “G” section to find your card.
Update your pass card
Once you find your card, you need to update it. You do that by marking off one of the available classes on the card. Once you have done that you return the pass card to the Pass card storage box. Make sure that your return the pass card to the correct place in the box. It should go behind the “G” tab for Goldilocks.
Now that you have updated your pass card it is time to go to your class and update the Class sign in sheet.
Step 2 – Update the Class sign in sheet
The Class sign in sheet is kept on a clip board mounted on the wall inside the practice room where your class is being held.
Once you find the sign in sheet you add your name and phone number to the list of people attend the class today. The teacher will have already add the information about the class in the first column. You will put your name in the middle column and your phone number in the last column.
And that is it. The sign in process is done.
What if I forget to sign in
If you forget to update your pass card or the Class sign in sheet, you can update them after the class is over. There is no need to disrupt the class or interrupt your practice to update them right away.
What if there is no time left before the start of class
If there is no time left before the start of class, you can update your pass card and the class sign in sheet at the end of the class.
What if I can not find my pass card
You may not be able to find your pass card for several reasons:
— Sometimes when the pass cards are put back in the pass card box they end up behind a different tab. Have a look at the tab before or after where your pass card would normally be stored.
— Sometimes two pass cards will stick together and you will not be able to find yours because it stuck to the pass card in front of it.
— The third reason that you may not be able to find your pass card is because it has expired. Pass cards expire one year after they have been purchased. Expired pass cards are removed from the pass card box.
What do I do if I paid for a drop-in class
If you bought a drop-in class then you do not have a pass card. In that case you only update the Class sign in sheet. You skip Step 1 and go directly to Step 2.
Summary
Alice learned that the sign in process has two steps:
— Step 1 – Update your pass card
— Step 2 – Update the class sign in sheet
She also learned that you normally sign in before classes start, but if you are late you can sign in after the class has ended.
